A Child’s First Steps: A Mother’s Love and Determination

For Chifundo, walking once felt impossible. Born with cerebral palsy, he relied entirely on others for movement. But through Step Up’s physiotherapy sessions and parent training, his journey took a new turn. In the photo, Chifundo takes steps with a walker, guided by his mother who learned these therapy techniques during one of our training sessions. With consistent practice at home, he is now gaining strength and independence. This milestone isn’t just about movement; it’s about hope. With the right support, every child has the potential to achieve more than expected. At Step Up, we celebrate these victories, big and small, as we continue changing lives together.
Empowering Mothers: Skills, Advocacy, and Economic Independence

At Step Up, we believe empowering mothers is key to transforming the lives of children with disabilities. Through our training sessions, we equip them with skills in home therapy, economic empowerment, and disability advocacy. Beyond therapy, Step Up also provides economic empowerment training to help mothers improve their livelihoods. From learning business skills to starting small income-generating activities, these initiatives enable mothers to better provide for their families In the photo above, mothers are learning how to continue therapy exercises at home, ensuring their children’s progress. Beyond therapy, we provide business skills training, helping them start small income-generating activities to support their families. Our advocacy workshops also empower mothers to fight for disability inclusion in their communities. By equipping them with knowledge and resources, we’re building a future where every child, regardless of ability, has a chance to thrive.
